Apprenticeship summary

What will the apprentice be doing?

The apprentice will welcome children into the nursery and play alongside them. Use conversation to communicate with the children. Help them with daily activities, putting coats on, washing hands etc. You will be asked to wash up equipment after use, fill dish washer, brush up sand etc. We clean tables before lunch and put out lunch boxes, after lunch we clean and tidy room, mopping the floor after brushing up crumbs. All staff carry out these duties to keep the nursery clean and tidy.

We open the garden daily unless there is terrible weather. We have bikes, climbing frames and slides for the children’s use. We need to watch the children carefully on the equipment. Tasks may change day to day, but you will always be supported by the team.
We will expect the apprentice to write the children’s names on their work, check the children’s trays or ask a member of staff how to spell. We cannot send work home if the name is spelt wrong.
We do expect you to move around the playrooms with the children, rather than sit on your own or where you are not needed.
