#THEPLATFORM is a digital media suite equipped with high-speed Apple 27” iMac Retina stations, Apple MacBook Pros, Apple TVs, Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud.
The success of the first #THEPLATFORM has inspired more of the same at the College’s other campuses and enables students to gain access to high-level facilities and technology - particularly those wishing to pursue careers in the business, marketing, media and creative industries.
#THEPLATFORM was named because of its proximity to local overground rail stations, the famous pier at Erith and because of its aim to provide students with a ‘platform’ to the very latest in information and social media technology. The space has been designed to give all users ample room to manoeuvre, and work comfortably alone or in teams.
Vice Principal for London South East Colleges (South), Tracey Davis has been instrumental in bringing the new #THEPLATFORM to Orpington and Bromley. She says: “These extensive new facilities are essential in the support of teaching, learning and research and provide better access to a much wider range of online resources, the very latest in graphics and layout software, web design, photo-manipulation and video editing tools.
“It means students can be more ambitious with their projects and produce highly impressive, professional quality results in their work - it opens up a much wider range of possibilities and encourages students to ‘think bigger’.
“Everything we have here is industry-standard. What you will use in your studies is what is used by the professionals. We’ve also housed all this fantastic kit in very stimulating surroundings. The décor is inspired by the work of iconic Dutch painter Piet Mondrian, murals based on the design of transport network maps and motivational quotations from some of the world’s most dynamic movers and shakers such as Albert Einstein, Estée Lauder, Roald Dahl, Maya Angelou and many others.”
This year, we have invested significantly to complement a number of new courses in art, business, computing, creative media, TV and video production, graphic design, fashion, games design and animation, photography and much more. The investment is on-going and reflects our desire to match or even exceed the tools, environments and methods used in every industry we cover.
If you would like a take a tour of our facilities and find out how the College can help you into the career of your choice, please come along to one of our November open events. Click here to learn more.
