The session delved into the creation of marketing campaigns - how they are put together from inception to delivery, to post-campaign analysis and debrief. Several members of the PwC Campaigns team shared their career journey and the session concluded with an employer brief.
Business student, Genrey Padilla, said: "I feel grateful to be at this college because I am offered opportunities to connect and learn through professionals - professionals who are doing what I am studying and who work for well-known businesses."
Another Business student, Anton Smithard-Powell, added: "The presentation was very well-presented. It was very good as we heard from people who work there, and their experiences allowed me to understand more."
The fully-integrated campaign case study, 'The New Equation', brings to life the campaign planning process, which allows more junior PwC staff the opportunity to engage with our students. Our students will embark on their own campaign project, choosing from two options with a 'budget' of £100K to plan, develop and create their campaign plans and pitches as part of their work experience this year. This will help develop their presentation and communication skills, as well as support their revision for the upcoming Marketing exams.
The top five pitches will be presented by the students to the PwC Campaign team and the top three will be rewarded with Amazon vouchers and all students who take part will receive a certificate of participation.
PwC's Tamara Williams, Head of Campaign Management, Sales and Marketing, says:
"The PwC UK Marketing and Brand team really value the opportunity to share what a potential career path into professional services marketing might open for students and to share our passion and expertise in campaign marketing. We also really value the innovative ideas and approaches the students bring to their response to brief project and love hearing how they pitch their plans. The whole team finds the project incredibly rewarding."
Teresa Riordan, Student Placement Advisor, London South East Colleges, says:
"I am so pleased to have been able to facilitate this employer engagement - it will help my students to revise for their upcoming exams and will also give them an excellent opportunity to do a work placement 100% relevant to their studies, PwC have been an exceptional employer and working with them over the years has been a privilege."
Michelle Luckens, Student Placement Team Leader, London South Colleges, says:
"This is an excellent opportunity for our students to link their studies to the real world of work. The PwC Campaigns team have been an excellent advocate of developing and encouraging our young learners to engage and work hard. The project brief will give our learners the opportunity to showcase their skills and ability."
The presentation and planned work experience will help with the students' revision for their first marketing exams mid-January. Good luck to all our Business students.
Thank you to PwC for delivering such an informative, engaging, and insightful session to our students - we look forward to more collaborations in the future.
