On Thursday 22 September, L’Oréal held an exclusive event for our hairdressing students at our Bromley Campus. This was the second out of five watch party events L’Oréal has planned within a college. Their aim is to raise awareness amongst the student population, inspire and nurture the next generation of hairdressers and bridge the gap between college and industry – allowing diversity and inclusivity.
Level 2 Hairdressing student, Alexia Griffin, says: “I loved It, it was fun, really enjoyed the hair tutorial. It was very interesting and enjoyed listening to Kirsty talking about her experience with Colour Trophy, it was really educational and very inspiring for new possibilities, I'd love to see more things like this, and would defiantly recommend this to other students."
The LCT winner, for over 18s, wins a professional photoshoot, the front cover of ‘Hairdressers Journal’ and is subsequently featured in a consumer magazine. College students can enter the LCT Future Talent category which secures the winner with a high-profile mentor within the hairdressing industry and will also attend the LCT final ceremony - meeting various VIP’s in the industry. You must be over 16 to enter the competition for the LCT Future Talent Award. Applicants will be shortlisted and judged nationally, and there will be regional finalists.
“Our students now know how to apply for the L’Oréal Colour Trophy and understand the benefits of winning. I’m sure our students have left the event feeling really inspired and hopefully, we have some students who apply for the Future Talent category next year,” says Debbie Dannatt, Hair and Beauty Lecturer and Facilitator, London South East Colleges.
Victoria Millar, Colleges Education Consultant, Professional Products Division, “It’s great to finally work in partnership with London South East Colleges to showcase the L’Oréal Colour Trophy highlights to the future generation of students.”
