Yesterday, an Esports event organised by Level 2 Esports students took place which saw pupils from Bromley Trust Academy and Bromley Beacon Academy take part in a variety of Esports games.
This was the second such event to take place for pupils from London South East Academies Trust; last week, eleven pupils from Aspire Academy participated in the first session run by the Level 2 students, supported by their teachers. Games included Rocket League, Smash Bros, Projects Cars 2 and FIFA 22.
Speaking about the first event for primary-aged pupils, Heather Hopkins, co-headteacher from Aspire said last week: "the staff and students were buzzing after they returned from the event. They had an amazing time. We have lots of other children who would like to have a go if the opportunity arises."
Organised and run by Level 2 Esports students as part of their BTEC qualification, the successful elements of the session with Aspire Academy were evaluated alongside feedback to inform the planning of yesterday's event.
Ben Parish, Level 2 Esports student, reflected on the two sessions, saying: "I've really enjoyed this aspect of the course. The pupils from both events have been very well-behaved and really engaged in all of the games we've organised."
Suzy Bolwell, Service Industries & Health Director said: "Esports are massive, and it's really good for our students to be able to put into practice what they are learning on their courses through these events."
More Esports events will be hosted in the near future by Level 3 Esports students at the college.
