Cooking for a full house, the Tanner brothers, who run and own the award-winning Kentish Hare Restaurant, treated 50 guests to a sumptuous three course dinner. They were assisted by a team of nine students from the Hospitality, Food and Enterprise Career College at our Orpington Campus.
The event not only raised money for Young Minds, Demelza House and Bromley Homeless Shelter, but provided nine of our students with an exciting opportunity to work alongside two of the best chefs in the industry.
The 16-18 year olds helped prep for the evening, create the dishes and serve the guests. The menu consisted of Devon Crab Salad, Roast Beef Fillet and Vanilla Bean Pannacotta, with matching wine for each course.
Speaking after the successful event, James Tanner, TV Chef and Co-Owner of award-winning gastropub The Kentish Hare said: “We thoroughly enjoyed another fantastic night at BR6. As patrons of the college, it is fantastic to spend time coaching the students, who are all trained to a very high standard, learning from the best and using the latest in facilities, with the college setting a high benchmark for the industry.
“As well as ensuring all the guests had a great time, with first class food and wine, the evening was also about us being able to pass on skills to the next generation of chefs. There are some extremely talented young people here, who will soon be in great demand by our industry. I am grateful to everyone who came along and supported the students, helping to raise money for a great cause. We look forward to coming back soon.”

“Last night gave our students the opportunity to produce and serve very high-quality food, under the guidance of two hugely talented chefs. It also gave us another chance to showcase our fantastic facilities and our talented students and staff to the public.
“I am hugely grateful to James and Chris for all their support and helping us to make our BR6 restaurant such a continuing success.”
Lauren (17), currently studying at the College on a Level 3 Patisserie course, said: “Working with James and Chris was a brilliant experience and I learned a lot last night. I am absolutely sure I want a career in this industry, in a front of house role, and studying here is giving me the chance to learn all the skills I know I will need.”
