An outstanding London South East Colleges' tutor has been honoured in this year's National Teaching Awards - achieving a Highly Commended accolade in the category of FE Lecturer of the Year.
Dave King leads the College's Supported Internship programme based at Princess Royal University Hospital. This is a remarkable initiative run in partnership with DFN Project SEARCH, King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Bromley Mencap, and Bromley Council.
The programme is dedicated to supporting 19-25-year-olds with learning disabilities or autism to develop employability skills and access fulfilling jobs.
Dave's caring and skilled approach has been instrumental in helping learners overcome barriers and achieve their career ambitions. He has developed personalised pathways for each learner, focusing on maximising their skills development and building their confidence to ensure their success and that of the programme.
As a result of Dave's enthusiasm, expertise and dedication, the attendance and achievement rates among his cohort of learners are strong, with positive outcomes for all.
