The College was given a Highly Commended award in the Best Public Sector Project category relating to the redevelopment of its Greenwich Campus.
These prestigious national awards recognise organisations who champion social value creation and community wellbeing.
The College’s winning project – Future Greenwich - is being developed in partnership with social enterprise, L&Q. As well as providing the residents of Greenwich with a state-of-the-art new further education college, there will also be 294 new homes - 52% of which are set to be affordable.
Over the next four years, it’s estimated that the project will generate around £30,000,000 of social value via education opportunities and affordable housing.
Commenting on the College’s success, Group Principal and CEO Dr Sam Parrett CBE, says:
“We are absolutely delighted to once again be a winner in these prestigious awards. As a civic institution we are absolutely committed to supporting our communities, operating as a social enterprise.
“The Future Greenwich project represents how an innovative partnership between two sectors dedicated to community wealth-building can develop new ways of generating social value.
“We are incredibly proud of this work and look forward to progressing it to ensure maximum positive impact for local residents. We are most grateful to the Royal Borough of Greenwich for supporting our ambitions and journey over the past seven years.
“Congratulations to all the winners – it is fantastic to hear about the amazing work being done by so many organisations to improve the lives of others. We are delighted to be part of this very special community.”
