The event raised over £1600 which was split between two charities - Cancer Research UK and The Tree of Hope.
The inspiration for the fundraising is 4-year old Hudson Mcgeehan who was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at the age of two and also a College employee who is currently fighting cancer.
Visitors to the Christmas Fair had the opportunity to buy a range of handcrafted Christmas gifts, many made by students at the College, as well as cakes, cards and mulled wine. Several brave male staff members agreed to have their legs waxed by beauty students in return for donations to the charities and relaxing hand massages were also on offer.
A bumper raffle completed the afternoon’s event, with a range of Christmas food hampers being won by lucky guests.
Graham McNamara, a technician at London South East Colleges and grandfather of little Hudson said: “It was such a great event and so touching that my colleagues put in so much effort to help support Hudson and Ian.
“The money raised for Tree of Hope will help Hudson to continue with the intense physiotherapy he is currently receiving, which will increase his mobility in the longer term. My family and I are truly grateful for the support we have received from wonderful College staff and students and I thank them all very much.”
