Beating off competition from many other successful restaurants, judges of the town’s annual ‘Finest’ business awards agreed that BR6 offers the best service, food and value for money.
BR6 Restaurant and Bakehouse is the centrepiece of London South East Colleges’ Hospitality, Food and Enterprise Career College, which opened in 2015. Students are given the opportunity to practice their hospitality skills on the public, as well as learning how a commercial restaurant is run.
The town centre restaurant has gone from strength to strength over the past three years and has been Number 1 on Trip Advisor for most of this time. Last year the College launched BR6 Bakehouse, which provides students with an additional training ground to prepare and serve light lunches, coffees, cocktails and afternoon teas.
Principal and CEO of London South East Colleges, Sam Parrett, says:
"We are absolutely delighted to win this award as it reflects the huge amount of hard work the whole team has put in since BR6 opened. Huge congratulations to all the staff and students who are so committed to ensuring the success of this pioneering restaurant.
“Our aim is to train the chefs and restaurant managers of the future – while offering fantastic food, created with high quality ingredients to the local community at very reasonable prices.
“We are hugely grateful to our customers for their ongoing support and thank everyone at Orpington 1st for this prestigious award.”
The annual awards ceremony took place at Orpington’s Odeon Cinema, presented by host Greg Davies. Around 200 guests attended, with 29 businesses shortlisted across 11 award categories.
BR6 Bakehouse and Restaurant is open throughout the Easter holidays with kids eating free. Visit www.br6-restaurant.co.uk or call 020 8295 7026
