What you will study
- Explore working methods for drawing and painting and experimental media to convey expression
- Practise drawing and painting techniques
- Produce artworks from observation of primary and secondary source materials, and from the imagination
- Learn about composition and apply this in your work
- Develop your research skills through the use of a sketch book
- Combine a basic understanding of Visual Language, Genres and Artists in a Contemporary, Global and Art Historical context, to help your studio practise

Entry Requirements
This course is suitable for beginners or learners with a basic level of drawing and painting skills, and a keen interest in wanting to develop these individually and as a member of a class. The tutor will encourage learners to bring some of their own previous artwork as part of an initial assessment.

Assessment
An individual learning plan with smart personal goals and photographs of work in progress will be used by the learner and the tutor to record your learning journey. There will also be critical sessions and exhibitions of artwork produced.

Moving Forward
Upon successful completion of the course, learners may progress on to another Level 2 Art course. For example: life drawing, acrylic or oil painting, watercolour painting or printmaking.
