The Supported Internship is a one year programme designed to develop both practical and theoretical employment skills of learners with SEND to aid their progress into employment. Learners will work at their work placement for agreed days during the week and will attend College a further one day per week at the Bexley Campus.

  • What you will study

    The course:

    • Develops confidence and the essential employability skills needed for gaining and sustaining employment
    • Delivers work experience in a variety of settings, including Retail, Hospitality and the Service Sector
    • Develops functional skills for employment
    • Teaches and reinforces the work expectations required for employment
    • Encourages social interaction by working as a team member
    • Builds close links and employment opportunities with local businesses
    • Each learner will work towards individual learning targets set for the work place. Each target will be reviewed and shared with both the learner and the employer to maximise success.
  • Entry Requirements

    There are no formal entry requirements, but all potential learners must attend an interview , be working at Entry 3 English and Maths and have a history of excellent attendance and timekeeping.

  • Assessment

    Students will be taught through a range of practical activities and vocational tasters using the college classrooms, workshop facilities and the local community. Assessment will be continuous and consist of tutor observation of practical skills and the assessment of completed work, which will contribute to the development of a portfolio of evidence. The course team will review students’ progress formally three times a year in relation to the course aims and their individual development targets.

  • Moving Forward

    Learners will be invited to the SEND Transition events where they will receive expert advice and support from a variety of agencies and organisations as they search for employment.
